Have a Plan or Plan to Fail
by David West
Most successful music programs are built upon two important factors, preparation and organization. Many a ministry has failed to bring honor to the Lord simply because of things not being done "decently and in order" (I Cor 14:40)
Here are some helpful suggestions:
  1. Follow a written order of service.
  2. Schedule special music at least two month ahead.
  3. Start services and choir rehearsals on time.
  4. Keep records of congregational singing, special Music, choir specials
  5. Have a filing system for your music.
  6. Plan ahead for special meetings such as revivals, mission conferences
  7. Special services: Fathers Day, Easter, July 4th cantatas etc.
  8. Meet weekly with the pastor: Learn his heart, let him know of your needs, look ahead - schedule
  9. Have your pianist prelude 10-15 minutes before service.
  10. Educate and train others both spiritually and musically
  11. Prepare a written philosophy of music
