The Largest Single Volume of Hymn Stories Ever Printed

Revive Us Again contains 366 of the familiar gospel-hymns and well-known sacred songs, arranged in the order that they became available to American hymnbooks. The hymns are the same size as in the traditional hymnbook. Their stories are focused on transformed lives, where applicable, and most of the stories behind the hymns have pictures of the writers where available.

Revive Us Again also features:

• an index of 350 specifically talented people showing the hymns with which they are associated. Eighteen of the writers have from six to twenty-two hymns each, and they account for more than one half of the total. Thirty-four writers have two or more.
• an index of hymns in the chronological order in which they appear, making it easy to identify the associated numbers in the specifically talented people-index.
• an alphabetical index of hymns, making it easy to find your favorites.
• a chronological outline, showing where each of the 366 hymns fit in time, along with listings of persons and events important to American history.

Douglas Alvin Snow of Johnson City was born and reared in Hallstead, Pennsylvania, which is located in the tiny triangle that he calls the cradle of the American Gospel-Song. Back in 1979, after meeting with Dr. Alfred Smith, a passion for researching the great hymns of the past was ignited.

Following in the footsteps of his mentor (Al Smith) and three decades later the chronological anthology of American gospel hymnody was born. “Revive Us Again” presents 366 hymns created by 350 individuals in the years between 1150 and 1927. Its 888 pages offer pictures of 548 of the hymns' writers, composers, translators and arrangers.

Snow and his wife, Eileen are members of the First Baptist Church of Vestal, New York.
