Sometimes a Pastor may feel at a loss as to just how the music
portion of the service is to be conducted because he is generally
not a trained musician. This booklet is written with that Pastor
in mind. It can be used by him as a resource to help develop an
understanding of what he needs and wants in the music program
and how to articulate those guidelines to the Music Director.

Admittedly, this is not an exhaustive work on church music. However,
it is the result of the many years of my personal work with church
music and the observation of countless church services, revival
meetings, conferences, etc. Music is a harbinger of things to come
in a church. The wrong kind of music can lead to a shift in practices,
separation, and even doctrine.

The
author has served as music director for a total of nearly 30 years.
In addition he served as Chorister for national meetings of the
American Association of Christian schools for about 10 years.
He also has conducted music programs for several multi-state Christian
school conventions. He is a soloist, author, and composer. The
information in this booklet is gleaned from those years of service,
along with the excellent training received at Bob Jones University.
